Fabulous Friday Food - Pulled Pork
/
Well now, today's the day. The day I've been looking forward to and dreading at the same time because at the end of this post is a place for you to link up. [Note: The place to link up has been discontinued.]
Do you know how scary this is for me?
It's like I'm throwing a party, and I'm afraid nobody will come.
Maybe nobody will come, but then I'll have all this food to myself. And, to be honest, I wouldn't blame anyone for not showing up because not only is this post coming to you LATE (our power went out last night), but also today I'm serving what feels like leftovers. I gave you this recipe AGES ago, but I didn't include pictures. And since this is what we were having for dinner last night . . . and since this week has been so bad in so many ways . . . I'm giving myself a break and posting a repeat.
You can turn and walk out the door right now if you want.
But I wouldn't advise it because this Pulled Pork recipe is really yummy. And best of all, it's easy.
So here we go.
Place a 3-4 pound boneless pork roast in your crock pot, along with one cup of water and some salt and pepper, and cook it on high for about 7 hours.
Here's what it will look like when it's cooked.
You'll know when it's ready because the meat will just pull apart with a fork. See?
Shred the entire thing in the juice (oh, and don't forget to cut off the strings).
Next you'll add a few flavor enhancers.
Like BBQ sauce (duh!) . . .
. . . and brown sugar . . .
. . . and worchestershire sauce . . .
. . . and hot sauce (but not too much! My family doesn't like it too spicy.)
Stir everything together in the Crock Pot, adjusting the taste to your family's preferences.
Put on the lid, turn the heat down to low, and cook it for another hour.
And voila! Pulled pork sandwiches! (Topped with a little cole slaw, if you like. I've just discovered the cole slaw that you throw together yourself at Costco and it is DELISH!)
And the best part is? . . . this recipe makes a LOT of pulled pork so you can throw a party (hopefully people will show up) or you can feed your child's college friends (which is what I intend to do with the leftovers). Enjoy!
Pulled Pork
1 3-4 pound boneless pork loin roast, trimmed
1 cup water
18 oz. BBQ sauce (we're a Sweet Baby Ray's family, but use whatever you like)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 T Worcestershire sauce
1-2 T. hot sauce
1 t. salt
1 t. pepper
Roast meat in Crock Pot with water. Cook, covered, on HIGH for 7 hours or until the meat is tender. Stir with fork, shredding meat. Add the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to LOW, cover, and cook one hour longer.
